Tech gaints declare war against Russia (Updated)

 

After Russia's invasion of Ukraine major tech companies took actions against Russian government. Now they are increasing their actions against Russia. This is the latest report about it.

Apple

Apple announced that they are stopping their exports to Russia. Apple took a decision to pull out the Russian state media RT News and Sputnik News mobile apps from Apple App Store outside Russia.

Alphabet

Google confirmed they had removed Russian state-funded publishers such as RT from its news-related features, including the Google News search tool. Same as Meta and TikTok YouTube also said Tuesday that they would block Russian state media RT and Sputnik from Europe. Previously both Meta and Alphabet stopped the monetization process of RT and Sputnik. Alphabet Inc said on Tuesday the Russian state media are not available for download from the Google Play Store in Europe.

Microsoft

Microsoft stopped selling their products and services in Russia. According to a Reuters report Microsoft decided to remove RT from its Windows app store globally. Also de-ranking RT and Sputnik in Bing and will not show ads from Russian state media.

Microsoft support Ukraine by providing cyber-security against Russia's cyber-attacks. 

PayPal

First Reuters reports American multinational financial technology company PayPal Holdings, Inc took a  decision to stop new users from Russia on Wednesday. PayPal give chance only for cross-border transactions by users in Russia. PayPal had already blocked some users and some of the country's biggest banks in Russia because of the sanctions.
Now they announced that the company is suspending its service in Russia.
Also as a result of government sanctions U.S.-based payment card firms Visa Inc,Mastercard Inc and American Express Co suspended operations in Russia.

Electronic Arts

Last Friday EA announced they made a decision to stop sales in Russia and Belarus. As games and content, including virtual currency bundles, in Russia and Belarus while this conflict continues. This is not the first action that EA has taken around Russia in recent weeks. The company also removed Russian teams from its sports video games FIFA 22 and NHL 22.

Twitter

As a result of EU ban on Russian state media Twitter blocked access for RT and Sputnik in Europe. EU made this decision accusing they are spreading harmful disinformation. 
 
As a response to the Facebook and Twitter decision to limit access to Russian media Kremlin also restricted access to these platforms in Russia.
 

 Netflix stopped their streaming service in Russia. Netflix announced it was pausing all future projects and acquisitions in the country. This included four original Russian shows such as the Russian language series Zato for which filming had already begun.

Oracle 

Software giant Oracle tweeted they that they had already suspended their operations in Russia.

Activision Blizzard

COO of Activision Blizzard Daniel Alegre announced in their website that they had decided to suspend new sales in Russia. As well as company raised a fund to help Ukrainians.

 Epic Games

 Epic Game store has tweeted they are stopping commerce with Russia.


Nokia

 Nokia said that because of the sanctions they had stopped their products to Russia. Nokia supplied MTS, Vimpelcom, Megafon and Tele2 to Russia.
 

 Adobe 

Adobe announced that the company will halt all new sales of its products and services to Russia complying with the government sanctions. Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen made it public by posting on the Adobe Blog.

Spotify 

Swedish audio streaming and media services provider has also decided stop their operation in Russia.
