How Chinese tech companies saving from West?

On 2022.02.24 Russia invaded Ukraine. With US and their allies imposed many sanctions against Russia. As a result of Many western tech companies stopped their products and services to Russia. But Chinese tech companies didn't tell they decided to quit from Russia and they use this opportunity to capitalize their business.

According to reports Russia is the largest smartphone market in Europe and sixth in world. As a percentage it is 2% from globally. Russia also the European country have most number of internet users. But when considering global standards Russia is a small tech market. As well as Russian market is the place where western companies and Chinese companies collide.

If we look at semiconductor industry. After the government imposed sanctions against Russia, US chip providers Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Intel stopped their sells to Russia. This action action can affect to Russia's personal computer to military equipment. But Chinese companies are helping to Russia to overcome this problem. According to the Russian-language news aggregator Habr, Russian electronics manufacturing company, Dannie introduced a new micro-ATX motherboard which is powered by Chinese processor. These processors are made by Zhaoxina Semiconductor company which is started as a joint venture between VIA Technologies and the Shanghai Municipal Government.

The new motherboard is named as MBX-Z60A. They are using KaiXian KX-6640MA system-on-chip for the motherboard which use the x86 computing architecture. KaiXian lineup primarily for use inside China. Habr mentioned that it has eight cores, but test results submitted for the Geekbench and PassMark benchmarks indicate that the KX-6640MA has four cores. CPU Benchmark tested a four-core, four-thread version of the chip running at 3GHz with a 70W TDP and it scored 1,566 points on CPU Mark(Opens in a new window) for multi-threaded operations. For comparison, the Core i3-12100F scores 14,427(Opens in a new window), and a Ryzen 5 5500 scores 19,885(Opens in a new window). There's a similarly-large gap in performance for single-threaded operations—722 points compared to 3,525 for the Core i3, and 3,084 for the Ryzen 5. These new CPUs can run same softwares which developed for Intel and AMD platforms because they uses the x86 architecture but performance gap is too wide when compared. Also Russia can use their own processor named Elbrus processor but Russian-language website ServerNews.ru reported is not capable for multiple workloads due to insufficient memory, slow memory, few cores and low frequency.

If we consider the smart phone marketshare of  Russia, After Samsung Xiaomi is the second phone seller of the country. As well as we considering the Lenovo is the second largest PC seller after HP. Huawei  is Russia’s main telecommunications equipment supplier also competes with Ericsson for 5G contracts in Russia. After western tech firms left the Russia, chinese companies which were not big players in Russian market get the chance to fill the market shortage. Companies like Honor and Realme will will grab this opportunity. Also we can expect Huawei will provide 5G infrastructure to Russia presently.

When we observe the role of China we can see they are protecting Russia. USA has warned to China not help Russia. Do you think China can protect Russia from West? Please comment below.
